James_Bond_007 Travel Like Bond, James Bond
Aishwarya features some of the thrilling locations of the world of James Bond 007...

ROYAL BARRIERE HOTEL - DEAUVILLE, NORMANDY, FRANCE The inspiration for the original 'Casino Royale' (1967), the Royal Barriere Hotel was built in 1913, at the height of La Belle Époque, when Deauville was a magnet for the wealthy and stylish of Europe. The impressive façade of the Royal Barrière still presides over this elegant town, situated directly opposite three kilometers of superb sandy beach, edged by the famous Planches. The impeccable standards of service exceed those expected in a luxury hotel and are matched by the magnificence of the décor, which has been the subject of a major renovation. Formal attire is required in the Casino, where you can enjoy baccarat and a martini before dancing the night away in Le Régine's nightclub. As the nearest resort to the capital, Deauville remains a favorite destination for fashionable Parisians. The clientele also includes the international jet set when the American Film Festival is hosted there each September. Casino_Barriere_de_Deauville
Goldeneye GOLDENEYE - JAMAICA This is where Ian Fleming crafted all his James Bond novels. What Fleming loved most about Goldeneye was the out of doors, nature, the sounds and colors, the peace and drama of living by the sea. He delighted in "the blazing sunshine, natural beauty and the most healthy life I could live." Goldeneye is nestled among tropical forests and lush gardens on a seaside bluff overlooking the Caribbean where you can put a little distance between yourself and the rest of the world. The three bedroom Fleming House is the original building where Ian Fleming wrote 17 of his Bond books. It features a stunning view of the sea, three bedrooms with garden baths and showers, swimming pool, sunken garden, separate media play room with theatre screen, exotic Balinese furniture, private beach and kitchen. Located in the quiet village of Oracabessa, Goldeneye is set in rural and dramatically scenic St. Mary parish, a 20 minute drive from the resort town of Ocho Rios. Goldeneye sits on a bluff offering a dramatic coastline of secret coves and private beaches for you to explore and enjoy.

STOKE PARK CLUB You might remember Stoke Park from the movies when Sean Connery defeated Goldfinger in the famous golf game. The epitome of 'the British club', Stoke Park is a palace, 'a dazzling vision of white stone, of terraces and cupolas'. Once owned by Queen Elizabeth I and by William Penn (after whom Pennsylvania was named), it is a dream of a stately home with gardens landscaped by Capability Brown and Humphrey Repton. In 1908, a 27-hole parkland golf course, known as Stoke Poges, was created. After 100 years, Stoke Park Club is still going strong: a GBP 13 million spa, health and racquet pavilion was completed in 2002. Sweeping stairs, marble pillars, chandeliers, vast marble bathrooms, four-poster beds, antiques and sumptuous furnishings, make staying at the Club the ultimate in luxury. Award-winning cuisine is served in any of seven private rooms or in the dining room and, with only 21 bedrooms and discreet service, you are made to feel like a very privileged guest.

COPACABANA PALACE - RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL is superbly located facing the famous Copacabana Beach and is only minutes from the center of Rio. The Copacabana Palace is South America's most famous hotel and has welcomed the rich and famous since 1923. The thrill of Rio de Janeiro is a physical one. Here, 007 fought a battle with Jaws, in a speedboat, in 'Moonraker'. Drama is built into the landscape, with Sugarloaf Mountain rearing up behind the Atlantic coastline, and the iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer surveying the scene. Rio de Janeiro is an awe-inspiring city of contrasts. Impossibly steep granite mountains jut out of the ocean between glorious stretches of golden sand, impeccable colonial buildings nestle in between modern glass skyscrapers and verdant forests tumble down hillsides into densely populated residential areas. Rio is a city high on life, a city of beach worship, football, samba and Carnival. And high above all this fun and frivolity stands Rio’s ever-present, iconic landmark – the statue of Christ the Redeemer. The Cariocas – as the citizens of Rio are known – are characterized by a passion and enthusiasm for life. Copacabana_Palace
